As a beginner in business, I remember facing some of the same exact questions. I found myself creating really long to-do lists, filling my days up to the brim, and reaching the end of the day wondering what the heck I *actually* accomplished.
Over time, I realized that I had to get serious about replacing the busy work with profitable work. Instead of leaving my inbox open 24/7, scrolling Instagram, and even writing my next caption, I had to shift the majority of my time towards what would generate PROFIT for the business.
After TWO YEARS of spinning my wheels, staying busy, but generating very minimal profit, I was able to scale to high 5-figures in 5 months with one offering. Clearly, something changed. And whatever it was, it was working.

2) A hobbyist state - where they’re treating the business more like a hobby than a company. This results in decisions being made based on what feels “good” and “fun” versus what is crucial to move the business forward.
Instead of operating as a reactionary hobbyist, we have to make the shift towards taking massive responsibility and ownership as the CEO of your business. At the end of the day, this business is YOURS. Therefore, it is up to YOU to lead it forward and create results.
No one can do it for you.

Where do your leads come from?
What *tasks* can be tied back to profit generation?

Have you ever sat down at your desk in the morning and thought to yourself, “What should I do today?”
This is one of the biggest ways to allow busy-work to take over your schedule. It is crucial to go into each day knowing exactly what you’re going to focus on to move the needle forward for the business.
One of the ways you can do that is by preparing for your work day the evening prior. (Note: it’s important to craft your profit plan first so that can inform your schedule on a day over day basis).
1) Your top 3 priorities - I highly recommend keeping your daily priorities between 1-3 things. Anything more often leads to scattered work throughout the day and ultimately, minimal results for the business. I always approach it this way: if I can complete those 3 things, I get to count that day as a success. Anything more is just a bonus!
2) Your schedule - One thing I love to do (especially on busy work days) is leverage time-blocking - a method in which you account for every hour of your day & assign specific tasks to each block of time. When you work for yourself, it can be easy to waste time (let’s be real). Time blocking is a great way to leverage your time well.
3) Important reminders - This section can be used for anything that is a top priority that you don’t want to miss (think client communication, on-boarding, an important call, etc). This should only have a handful of items listed!
